Coastal Scents Haul

Recently I placed an order with Coastal Scents online. This is the first time I have ordered from them and their product selection reminds me somewhat of BH Cosmetics because they are very affordable and have a ton of palettes including create your own palettes. I placed my order on June 5th and received my order today so it did take quite a while to ship to Canada.

This is what the box looked like which I thought was cute. It was a little squished and dented from transport but not bad enough to make me worry about the products.

I had heard a lot of great things about the Revealed Palette and the newly released Revealed 2 Palette so I picked up both of those as well as two face brushes.

In the box there was a little information pamphlet about their Project Ghana program which is basically a program to help women in Ghana get involved in Fair Trade with their natural products. Fair Trade is something that I am personally interested in so I will have to look into Project Ghana some more in the future. They also sent a cute "I <3 Makeup" sticker and a Coastal Scents business card.

They also sent this little eye shadow sample quad. I was really excited about this and immediately swatched them because I was in love with the Peachy Keen shade.

Ice Ballet, Peachy Keen, Bombay, Raisin Berry

The shadows felt nice. They felt smooth but a little chalky. All of them were very pigmented except for Bombay but it is a very nice light grey color which would be good for highlighting the inner corner. Ice Ballet and Peachy Keen are perfect colors for Spring and Raisin Berry will make a nice outer corner shade.

I decided to order a couple face brushes. I ordered a Stipple brush and a Flat top brush. To be honest I don't remember why I decided to get these two brushes because I have a bunch of stipple brushes already and I am in love with my Sigma Flat Top Kabuki brush, so when I realized today that I ordered these ones I kind of wished that I had ordered maybe a Round top kabuki or something else that I don't have but oh well. That just means I will have to place another order.

This is the Classic Stippling Synthetic Brush. When I took it out of the package it was pretty much flattened but I managed to round it out pretty quickly. It is very soft and thin and compares to my other Stipple brushes that I have. I used this to apply blush today and it worked wonderfully. $6.95.

This is the Bionic Flat Top Buffer. It is very similar to the Sigma F80 but It is softer and not as dense and firm. I honestly thought that I was going to be disappointed but this but I was wrong! I used this to apply my L'Oreal True Match foundation today and it applied it so well. It is super soft and blended my makeup in flawlessly with no effort. I am already a fan of this brush and will probably be using it every day in place of my Sigma one for a bit. $6.95.

Next I had to order the Revealed Palette. This palette has 20 eye shadows in it. It came in this cardboard box. $19.95.

This is what the Coastal Scents website had to say:

Expose your natural beauty with this exquisite collection of nude and metallic hues. These smooth,        powdered shadows blend seamlessly to create an array of day or evening looks. The slim palette           holds all twenty shadows, allowing for easy on-the-go application.

After opening the box, the palette was wrapped in a bubble wrap sleeve. The palette packaging looks exactly like the box did. It is made of cardboard and has a magnetic closure. I have heard people complain about the packaging because it is thin cardboard instead of tin but I actually like that it is. It might not be the safest palette for travelling but I like how light weight it is. I don't like however, that it doesn't have a mirror. Not that I ever even use the mirrors in my palettes but it is one of the things that I appreciate in a palette. I have heard many people compare the Revealed and Revealed 2 palettes to the Naked 1 and Naked 3 palettes. I do not own either of the Naked palettes yet (frown) but I have seen swatches and comparisons online and from what I can tell they are very similar.

This palette has 20 shadows, 5 matte, and 15 shimmer/satin. The shimmery shadows are more chalky than the matte but they are all easily blendable and if you tap your brush after you grab the shadow then there isn't much for fallout. I love that this comes with a matte black shadow because that it hard to find and it is one of those essential shadows that everyone should have. It has a mix of warm and cool toned neutrals. I used the warm brown matte shade today mixed with a matte brown in the other palette to do my eyebrows and played around with the shadows on my eyes before I got ready for the day and they are all pretty pigmented except for the lightest shade but I bet on someone darker than me it would show up a lot easier. This palette is so universal and you can really do anything with it. You can do a very subtle basic eye or deepen it up and make it smokey or play up the coppery shades. I am a fan and I can't wait to play with it some more.

Top Row. PS how gorgeous is that copper shadow third from the right?!

I also ordered the Revealed 2 Palette which was released very recently. This palette also retails for $19.95.

The outer packaging is the exact same style as the Revealed palette and the palette itself was wrapped in bubble wrap as seen below.

This is what the Coastal Scents website had to say about this palette:

Influenced by the lustrous beauty of its predecessor, the Revealed 2 palette presents an ALL NEW       selection of twenty gorgeous mattes and shimmers.

The packaging is the exact same style and this one does not come with a mirror as well.

This palette has more rose gold/pink neutrals in it which I am obsessed with lately. I was so freaking excited when I opened this palette because it is so gorgeous and totally the colors that I have been gravitating to lately. There are 7 matte shades in this one and the rest are shimmery/satin. The 4th shade from the left on the top is more sparkly and I am not a huge fan. It is pretty chunky and when I tried to apply it today it didn't blend out very good and there was a ton of fall out. But the other shades I am in love with. It has a lot of pink shadows and some are more gold or coppery and it has some warmer burgundy shades. I am seriously obsessed with this palette and I just got it. I think that I love this one a tad bit more than the Revealed palette simply because I am in love with rose gold. I wore this today on my eyes and the shadows all blended together beautifully and has lasted all day with no fading.

So overall I am super happy with my order besides the fact that it took a while to deliver. I am happy that I purchased these before the Naked palettes and honestly I don't know if I will even bother with the original Naked palette now. I will probably still order the Naked 3 palette though because I am obsessed with rose gold anything and the case is enough to make me need to have it! I think that these are perfect for someone on a budget. I have tried out several inexpensive palettes and these are up there on the list based on quality.

I also found this on the website which I was happy about:

We do not test products on animals and only support suppliers that do the same. All the products we carry are produced cruelty free and no animals are harmed. Even though some companies still test on animals, we believe that it is unnecessary, unethical and is scientifically unreliable. We want to be sure that our products are safe on humans, so our products are rigorously assessed and tested by human volunteers.
As a company with many natural products, we also help our environment by recycling.

I do want to try the individual hot pots and some more brushes so I will keep you posted if I make another order. Leave me a comment if you have tried anything from Coastal Scents that you think I should try!

What's In My Everyday Makeup Bag

I thought that today I would give you a glimpse into my everyday makeup bag. This is only a small portion of the makeup products I have but these are the ones I keep in my makeup bag because I love them and use them often. Most of them I use every day.

The makeup bag I use is a bag that I received with a limited edition Too Faced palette called A Few Of My Favorite things. This bag has gorgeous bright pink and gold chevron stripes all over and I'm obsessed with it. It is a great size and fits a ton into it.

L'Oreal Magic Lumi Primer - This primer makes your skin look so luminous and metallic when you put it on bare skin but when you put your foundation over top it gives you a gorgeous subtle glow. You can also mix it with your foundation for a beautiful dewy look.

Elf Mineral Face Primer - I tend to use this one more than my L'Oreal one simply because I can use this one regardless of if I am going for a matte or dewy look. This one has a silicone feel and makes your foundation go on so smoothly.

I have a ton of foundations and never seem to stick to one. I am constantly rotating through foundations but these ones have stayed in my makeup bag the longest recently.

Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation in Light Porcelain - This is a mousse foundation that gives you a matte finish. I was really worried that this wouldn't work for me because I have dry skin but it actually works great. It has great coverage and actually matches my skin tone perfectly which is rare.

L'Oreal True Match Foundation in C1 Alabaster- This is my tried and true fall back foundation. It matches my skin wonderfully, and goes on so smoothly. I love this because you can get light coverage with this or build it up for a full coverage look.

CoverGirl CGsmoothers Hydrating Makeup in Ivory - This is my most recent foundation purchase so I am still trying this out. It is a very light foundation that feels so moisturizing which is great because it won't stick to my dry patches. This gives light to medium coverage and works great for the Spring and Summer months.

Physicians Formula Super BB Cream in light- Lately I have been obsessed with BB Creams and this one is my favorite at the moment. It is buildable and you can surprisingly get good coverage with this and it still feels super light like you aren't wearing foundation. This is the lightest shade and it is just a tad too dark for me but if I mix it with a tiny bit of a lighter foundation it is perfect.

I have tried so many concealers and have only found a few that can cover up my redness and dark circles and be light enough for my skin.

Hard Candy Glamoflauge Heavy Duty Concealer in Ultra Light - This is my holy grail heavy duty concealer. This stuff can cover anything. You only need the smallest amount and it spreads so far. I love this stuff, it can cover dark circles, redness, blemishes, tattoos, and basically anything that you want covered. It is amazing!

Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer in Brightener and Fair - I remember having one of these a long time ago when they first came out and I remember not liking it probably because the lightest shade was too dark for me. Now I don't know if they have come out with more shades since the beginning but I decided to try it again and I am in love. I use them everyday. They both match my skin and have decent coverage. I use them both under my eyes almost every day and they don't crease on me at all. The only thing I don't love is the weird sponge applicator.

Quo Color Corrector Palette - I bought this on a whim because I was wanting a good corrector palette and I found this one at the drug store. It is great. I only really use the green and yellow shades but I mix a bit of the peach in to cover my dark circles. The formula is really great and they do their job well.

Maybelline Age Rewind - Brightener, Quo palette, Age Rewind in Fair

I have only recently discovered my love for highlighters in the last few months and I have tried a bunch. The hardest part is trying to find a highlighter that will work for my very fair skin that will be glowy and shimmery but not glittery. These two are my favorite.

Revlon Photoready Skinlights Illuminator in Pink Light - This is a liquid highlighter that is so gorgeous. It has a pink tone to it with the most amazing sheen and shimmer to it. It is a versatile product that can be applied on top of foundation or mixed with it. To me this gives such a natural dewy look.

The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer - This is a recent purchase and I am so happy that I ordered it. It is a white shimmery powder highlight and is such an intense highlighter that you seriously just need to tap your brush into the powder once and then very lightly apply it to your skin. It is so gorgeous and works perfectly for fair skin.

Revlon Skin lights, Mary- Lou Manizer

These are my face powders that I tend to always go back to.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Transparent - This is the best pressed powder I have ever used. It does not look powdery or cakey on the skin at all. It sets my makeup perfectly and doesn't dry out my skin or stick to my dry patches. I use this every day and it is my holy grail powder that I will repurchase over and over again.

Hard Candy Baked Blush in Honeymoon - I love this blush because it is not super pigmented which works great because I have a hard time wearing blush since I have a lot of natural redness. It is a shimmery blush so it can be used as a blush and a highlighter. It is a gorgeous soft light pink color.

NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Powder in Sunny - This is a great light colored matte bronzer. It is great for my light skin and blends out wonderfully. This works great for bronzing and contouring and is super affordable at around $2.00.

Benefit Hoola Bronzer- I love this bronzer so much. I use this to bronze and contour my face most days and I have hit pan which makes me so sad but I will definitely be repurchasing it. It is matte and a light brown so for me it is perfect with a light hand but it is buildable for someone with a darker complexion. It gives such a natural bronzed look. I love it.

Maybelline Master Hi-light Highlighter Blush in Nude - This is another recent purchase for me. I bought this and was expecting more of a pinkish bronzer but it is more of a pinky highlighting blush. I haven't used this very often but I threw it in my makeup bag so I could really try it out.

Honeymoon, Sunny, Hoola, Nude
Normally for eyes a use a palette but I keep some of my favorite eye shadows in my makeup bag just in case.

Elf Eyelid Primer - I don't have much to say about this. It's just a basic eyelid primer and I notice that it actually does make my eyeshadow last longer. And it was only $1.00 and for that price I think it definitely gets the job done.

Maybelline Eyestudio Quad in Coral Oasis - I love these quads, they are amazing. They have such a range of colors and they are super pigmented. These are all shimmery shades and I use this palette all the time.

Wet n Wild Color Icon Trio in Walking on Eggshells - This is a great neutral palette that is my go to when I don't know what to wear or if I want a really neutral simple look. These shadows are super pigmented and easy to blend.

L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Amber Rush - This is one of my all time favorite eyeshadows. It is a pressed pigment and it is so creamy and insanely pigmented. It is a super gorgeous rose gold color and you can use it wet or dry and I can't wait to try different colors. This one is incredible so I am sure they all.

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 hr Eyeshadow in Tough as Taupe - This is a cream matte eyeshadow in a gorgeous taupe color. This is perfect as a base underneath other shadows, or by itself in the crease. I also use this to contour my face and it is amazing as a contour color for pale skin.

Physicians Formula Eyeliner in Brown - This is a very basic brown eyeliner and it is pigmented and long lasting.

L'Oreal Super Slim Liquid Eyeliner in Black - This is a liquid eyeliner with a felt tip. It is super black and super easy to apply.

Maybelline Line Express Eyeliner in Pure White - I like to use this in my water line to make my eyes look bigger.

Maybelline Quad in Coral Craze
L'Oreal infallible in Amber Rush, Maybelline Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe
Wet n Wild Walking on Eggshells

Wet n Wild ColorIcon Brow & Eye Liner in Taupe - this is my absolute favorite brow pencil. The color matches perfectly, it goes on so smoothly and looks very natural and it is a huge pencil ( it has been sharpened many times).

NYX Eyebrow Marker in Deep - this is a recent purchase and I'm not too sure how I feel about it yet. It is a brow marker that is similar to a liquid liner with a felt tip but it doesn't seem to be very pigmented which I both love and hate. I'll keep you posted on this.

Benefit Gimme Brow in Light/Medium - this is a brow gel with a teeny tiny wand that is the perfect size for brows. It wasn't until I left the city that I realized I accidentally bought the light/medium but it turns out that it works just fine for me.

Revlon Tweezers - Not much to say about these. They are just a basic pair of tweezers and they get the job done.

CoverGirl Flamed Out Mascara in Very Black Blaze - I love this mascara. The wand on it is like a peanut shape. I never use this alone but I use it on top of another mascara for extra length and volume.

Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara in Blackest Black - I am obsessed with this mascara. It has a big brush on it which I love and makes my lashes looks so long and full.

I tend to have a few too many lip products in my bag but I always like to have options that can go with anything.

Elf Matte Lip Color in Coral - This is a little twist up lip crayon that has a matte finish. I have a few of these and they are all really pigmented and super creamy and long lasting.

Revlon Color Burst Matte Balm in Elusive - This is very similar to the Elf matte lip color pencils but these ones are a lot fatter and a bit more pigmented. I love this shade.

Blistex Lip Balm in Raspberry Lemonade Blast - This has been my favorite lip balm for a long time. It smells so good and I always carry at least one lip balm in my bag for underneath of my lipstick.

NYX Matte Lipstick in Hippie Chic - I am obsessed with these Matte lipsticks! They go on so smoothly and are ultra creamy.

Elf Moisturizing Lipstick in Pink Minx - This is my all time favorite lipstick. It is super creamy and moisturizing and the color is amazing. It also smells really good!

Maybelline Color Sensation Vivids in Shocking Coral - This is my favorite bright lipstick. I love Maybelline lipsticks because their color pay off is amazing and they are creamy and smooth and have such a great range of colors. This one is a really bright pinky coral and it is my go to bright shade for spring.

Maybelline Color Sensation in Born With It - This is my "my lips but better" lipstick. The shade is very close to my natural color but it just amps it up a bit. This is the lipstick I choose when I just want a very natural no makeup look.

Elf Essential Lipstick in Nostalgic - I have a serious love obsession with these Essential lipsticks. I love almost all of the shades and Nostalgic is one of the newer ones that I picked up. It is a pink very nude color and I can't really wear this one by itself because it is so pale but I like to layer it will my Hippie Chic or with a gloss over the top.

Coral, Elusive, Hippie Chic, Pink Minx, Shocking Coral, Born With It, Nostalgic.

I don't tend to wear lip gloss a lot but when I do I reach for one of these three.

Color Your Smile Lighted Lip Gloss in Coral Craze - This is a great lip gloss. The pigment is incredible and it is the most gorgeous nude coral shade. The best part of these is that they have a light on them so that you can apply in the dark and they have a little mirror on the side is well so they are great for nights out!

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Antwerp - Since I love matte lips I was super excited to try these. I have two of them so far and I love them both. They are not really a gloss but not a lipstick either. They are a cream with a matte finish but they are not drying and have long wearing power.
Maybelline Elixir Gloss in Petal Plush- The elixir glosses are definitely my favorite gloss. They go on so smoothly, are very pigmented, have so many color options and I love the applicator. They are not sticky at all too which is important to me when I am looking for a lip gloss. This shade is a perfect pinky nude!
